What is EPD?

The full name of EPD is Environmental Product Declaration, which can be translated as Environmental Product Declaration in Chinese.

It is an internationally recognized publication report that details the impact of a product on the environment throughout its entire lifecycle (Cradle to Grave).

To use a vivid analogy, EPD reports are like ingredient lists and nutritional ingredient lists for food products.

When purchasing food, in addition to caring about the shelf life, foods labeled with allergen information or non genetically modified ingredients can make buyers feel more at ease when eating.

And if you are pursuing a "light food" lifestyle that reduces sugar and fat,

You will definitely compare the sugar and fat content between products or check for the absence of trans fats, and choose healthier foods.

That's exactly what EPD reports need to do - in the project, we will care about the composition and performance of the product

(For example, products containing phthalate plasticizers can have biological toxicity to the human body, leading to infertility - VOXFLOR ®  PVC bottom products do not contain phthalate plasticizers,)

If the project requires environmental protection, the impact category disclosed in EPD,

Let's understand the impact of products on the environment at different stages and choose products with low environmental impact.

The Impact Category includes many items, such as non renewable resources, climate

change, ozone depletion, acidification, eutrophication, photochemical smog, inhalable

inorganic substances, human toxicity, ecological toxicity, land use, etc. Different markets

have slightly different categories and quantities of environmental impacts. In VOXFLOR ®

The EPD report displays the impact categories of the two major markets,

North America (TRACI method) and Europe (CML method), respectively.

Based on the shoulders of giants

Generating an EPD report is not an easy task. If EPD is compared to the tip of a pyramid,

Its lower layers are LCA (Life Circle Assessment) and PCR (Prodcut Category Rule).

LCA is a tool for generating EPD reports based on standardized methods specified in ISO 14040 and ISO 14044. PCR is a manual on how to generate EPD reports.

An EPD report cannot rely solely on the manufacturer's efforts, it is not a self talk of the manufacturer. But rather multiple parties (suppliers, manufacturers)

Comprehensive participation from multiple perspectives (product lifecycle) and transparency (manufacturers, data validators, report writers, EPD report validators).

It tests the supply chain management, production management, technology, sales, and green awareness of enterprises.

EPD reports cannot be made out of nothing, everything requires solid data, VOXFLOR ® Obviously able to withstand such a test.
